Flooring Tools
Be organized. Plan ahead. Make sure you have every flooring tools and materials you need (that includes information, too) before embarking on a remodeling project as serious as a flooring installation. It may be a DIY but it sure requires a lot of planning and preparing to do. Here are some flooring tools you should have. Nail Punch Especially when dealing with wood flooring, nail punch is very essential in punching the nails deeper without the risk of damaging the wood panels around the nail. Nail punches come in different sized intended for different thicknesses of nails. Slotted or Stripper Blade Slotted or stripper blades are used to remove tile, linoleum, glued carpet, or resilient tile on wood or concrete floors. The National 5280 Panther Self Propelled Stripper is a heavy duty hydraulic stripper perfect for removing tough floor materials. Tapping Block Tapping block ensures straight tap alignment. It's used to tap flooring pieces together or just tap anything in its place. Tapping blocks are an essential flooring tool for nearly all flooring projects: hardwood, cork, and tile they all need tapping block. Never use a hammer in its place. Tapping block also tightens joints in between boards and tiles. It taps these materials together, pushing excess adhesive out which would serve as sealant. Chalk Line A chalk line is a small case filled with a colored chalk and string. A metal tab on one end is used for pulling the chalk line out. The purpose of the flooring tool is to mark lines on surfaces. Chalk Line has a reel on the side for winding the string back in. Hand Saw, Power Saw, Tile Cutter or Scissors These materials are used in trimming flooring materials. While it is advisable to use standard size materials, ordering materials a few inches bigger or wider you intended design can actually save you costly errors. These trimmers are essential to any project. Hammer and appropriate Nails Of course you need hammer and nails. After all it is still carpentry even though if you are installing stone floors. Hammer and nails are important flooring tools, don't ever start any project without one. |
